Now is the time to evaluate your trees and landscape. The rain is slowly dissipating away as you walk outside to soak up some fresh air and get a glimpse of the sun.

You want to make sure your trees are ready for spring. Follow these guidelines to help your trees grow healthier and stronger this season.

Phase 1:

  • Check your trees and shrubs for signs of any damage from the winter season
  • Once inspected you will need to prune any dead, hazard, or diseased branches before your trees start to re-grow.

Phase 2:

  • Clean the landscape by disposing all the broken branches on the ground and any remaining leaves.
  • Now your trees are ready to each the nutrients they have been craving after a harsh winter. You will need a slow releasing fertilizer; which will help to defend itself from diseases. Talk to your tree service company so they may recommend you with one or they can take care of this for you.

Phase 3:

  • Spring brings many opportunities to your landscape. This time you are able to plant any new trees you are wanting or needing around your property. Make sure to figure out what are the best growing areas for your new trees.
  • Check the soil where the trees will be planted. After the trees are planted they you will want to add bark dust/mulch around the trees which will help control weeds and improve soil moisture.
